The goal of the El-rollo is to make a spiral at the top of the wave.

           To do that, you need first a lot of speed and then a good coordination with the breaking of the wave : you must hit the lip when it starts breaking. (pictures 1 and 2).

           If the wave is a left, when your board hit the lip, you have to give a powerful impulse to the top and, at the same time, to pull the board with your arms to the top and the beach. The action of your arms must be done quickly in order to use the maximum of the projection of the lip.

           The bodyboarder is now on the reverse side in comparison with the water (picture 3). Then, you need to emphasize the rotation of your body by replacing the board with your hands between you and the surface of the water. All your body will be dragged by the movement of your arms but your back must be arched in order to make easy the movement.

           When you come back to the right side, the rotation must be stopped thanks to your arms and legs. Than, you have to prepare the landing (picture 4). During the first part of the move, you must look after the place where you want to land. For a softer landing, the noze of the board must hit the water first and you arms must be nearly tight in order to play the role of a shock absorber (picture 5).

           Advice for beginners : for the beginning, try this move in small wave : because the wave is less powerful, you will need to make an harder work in each part of the move without be frighten.

           This move is needed in a lot of other tricks : so, you need to be able to do it perfectly.
