The tube is THE trick of bodyboarding in prone and drop-knee. In drop-knee, it needs a good reading of the wave in order to anticipate the break of the wave and stand in the right place at the right moment.
The take off is one of the most important parts. You don't have to put yourself in position on the board rapidly. First, paddle hard and then, when the wave is pushing you, put yourself in position on the board and try to keep the board flat on the water. Then, engage the rail of the bodyboard in the lining of the wave by pushing hard with your knee on the board in order to make the take off as fluid as possible.
Then, to make a good bottom turn, re-erect yourself and push less hard on your front leg : normaly, the board will pivot and put you parallel to the wave. Pay attention not to do your bottom turn too far from the bottom of the wave, you will lose a lot of speed.
Now you have to stay near the lining of the wave. Here, the timing is really important in order to stay as long as possible inside the tube. If you feel that you have too much speed, just put your hand inside the water to slow down. On the contrary, if you need more speed, it is because the take off and the bottom turn was not enough fluid, you can try to push on the nose of the board to gain speed. The key of this trick is to do a really fluid take off and bottom turn to gain a maximum of speed. If you can have the same velocity as the wave that is perfect, you will stay the longest time inside the tube : so just appreciate the moment. To exit the tube, push the nose of the board with you feet in order to gain speed.
