The lifetime of a bodyboard depends on two main factors : the frequency of its use but also the way it is kept. This point is explained on this page.
First, the foam that is used to make the bodyboard reacts a lot with heat. That is why a bodyboard must not stay right in the sun for a long time, otherwise the shape of the board will become like a banana. For example, don't live your board in the back of a car during summer. You can also by an isothermal cover.
Then, like for your wetsuit, you have to clean the board after every session with fresh water. During long period without surfing, store your board flat and, if possible, take off the plug to remove sand and water.
Finally try to remove the wax of your board once a year. To do that, you can use a hairdryer to melt the wax and to remove it more easily (pay attention not to heat too much!!).
